Dates with bacon and goat cheese (halal)

These Medjoul dates are filled with creamy goat cheese, wrapped in halal bacon (so everyone can enjoy), and finished with pistachios, pomegranate, and honey. Perfect for parties or as a refined amuse-bouche.

Ingredients (for ±20 pieces)

  • 12–15 Medjoul dates (e.g., from Dadelskopen.nl)
  • 100 g soft goat cheese
  • 1 pack of halal beef bacon or turkey bacon (halved lengthwise)
  • 2 tbsp chopped pistachios
  • 2 tbsp pomegranate seeds
  • Honey to taste
  • Toothpicks

Preparation method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Pit the dates, carefully cut them open on one side.
  3. Fill each date with about ½ tablespoon of soft goat cheese.
  4. Wrap them in a half slice of halal bacon and secure with a toothpick.
  5. Place on a baking tray with parchment paper and bake for 15–20 minutes until the bacon is golden brown.
  6. Remove from the oven and garnish with pistachios, pomegranate seeds, and a thin drizzle of honey.
